The first episode of the series, our hero, the Ratboy Genius, enjoys time with a friend, goes for a swim, and even experiences a magical transformation, oh my!
"I was unsure at the beginning, because all the Ratboy Genius videos I've watched in the past were (I think) multiple years in to the creator's Ratboy journey, and more advanced artistically. But this episode really hit its stride for me when Ratboy Genius went underwater. Cute and wholesome and it's meaningful to see the origins of Ratboy Genius."
"Overall, I'd say this is a decent start to the series. The art's rough, but distinct even in these early stages, and the music's pretty good, to boot! We establish some of the quirks of the Ratboy universe pretty early on here, such as the catchphrase, "I'm the Raboy Genuis!" and Ratboy's tendency to refer to everyone with the epithet "friend". Obviously the series is the brainchild of a guy who wanted to do a children's cartoon but had no talent for visual art, and that makes it unique and memorable! I really miss when this kind of low budget, auteur/outsider art could find an audience on the internet."
